The 12 Step
The
12 step program is more well known as Alocoholics Anonymous which was founded by 2 alcoholics who created 12 steps to handle their addiction. This program has minimal success (5 to 12 %) and is sadly, the drug rehabiltation program used by over 75 percent of drug rehabilitation centers. Although design to help alcoholics, this program is used to handle heavy drugs like cocaine and heroin. These poor results has lead to a re-defining of the term addiction to mean "disease" to account for the high rate of relapse. Now the addict is told to deal with his life time problem as there is no cure. We don't recommend these types of rehabilitation facilities as there are many disadvantages to the 12-step drug rehab treatment model.
Behavior Modification
Behavior Modification was created to work on the social personality who can change. This method uses harsh beratings, usually done by a group, in order to change the addicts postion on drug use. Afterwards the addict is given a more positive view through a drug free lifestyle and acheiving new goals for himself. This type of rehabilitation has very poor results and we don't recommend them.
Long Term Religious
This method of drug rehabilitation requires the addict to remove himself from his drug related environment to a religoius retreat, usually a farm. The addict works on the farm and studies the bible for a year or longer. Many addicts do not stay through the entire year so it is difficult to say what the success rates are. The church will say it is a very high percent of success for those who make it through the program. Many have a problem with this type of program as they do not like the amount of faith and prayer that is mixed into rehab treatment. Even religious individuals believe 'giving yourself to God' is not the solution to addiction.
Biophysical
Biophysical drug rehab programs gets the drug toxins out of the addict's body in a purification sauna. Biophysical method uses a purification sauna, and vitamins to release residues stored in fat tissue so that there are no more cravings, anxiety or depression caused by the drug abuse side effects.
What was found through research is that the human body will store a residue called a metabolite in the fat tissue for 5 – 7 years after drug abuse.
Drugs like heroin, oxycontin, cocaine, and meth are more powerful than the chemicals the brain produces to be happy. It takes 1 year for this chemical balance to be restored. The chemical balances also will come back much faster with the exercise and vitamins. This enables the person to have a fighting chance.
This type of drug rehabilitation center will use social educational classes to restore or build skills to make the individual a drug free and productive member of society. Programs containing both biophysical drug rehab and non 12 step treatment are having a success rate of over 70%.
We recommend and can you find this type of program. |
